The Tic 5 area is underlain by the Late Devonian Forest Kerr Pluton, related to the McLymont Plutonic Suite.

Mineralization occurs in zones of alteration and shearing that contain pyrite, chalcopyrite, magnetite, calcite, quartz, chlorite, and epidote. A sparse, widely spaced quartz vein system occurs mostly on the lapsed Tic 5 claim where quartz veins vary in widths from a few centimetres to one metre. These are often associated with narrow shear zones that extend to tens of metres in length, striking northeast and dipping to the northwest. These veins carry anomalous gold and silver values. The best results from the 1989 program assayed as high as 42.17 grams per tonne gold and 68.57 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 21349). The vein system is hosted by relatively unaltered diorite with aplite dikes which trend southeast.

Work History

In 1988, Kestrel Resources Ltd conducted a preliminary program of prospecting, sampling, and geological mapping on Tic 2-5 mineral claims. A total of 119 rock chip samples and 22 silt samples were collected. The 1990 geochemical was designed to fill in certain gaps in geochemical sampling programs completed in 1988 and 1989. During July and August of 1990, 26 rock chip samples were collected. Considerable time and effort were given to checking values in the field from the extensive geochemical program completed in 1989. The 1989 documenting report was not found.

In 2019, Crystal Lake Mining Corp completed a half day of prospecting on the Tic 5 showing, defining mineralized quartz-carbonate veining near the contact of the plagioclase-phyric diorite and fine-grained diorite intrusive phases. In total, 714 rock samples and 1480 hyperspectral measurements were collected through the area. The area was also extensively covered by the property-wide soil sampling program. A total of 2626 soils samples were collected, with a main focus around the Chachi Corridor, Cuba, North/Kerr Glacier, and Thumper areas. Soil sampling occurred over a large number of showing including the Tic 5, within the Chachi Corridor. In 2019, in addition to the geological and geochemical work, approximately 18 line-kilometres of an Induced Polarization (IP) survey was completed along the northern portion of the west side of the Chachi corridor over known showings that included QS (104B 446), Tetra (104B 448), Chochi (104B 461), Tic 5 (104B 549), Leo (104B 717), Brass Rose (104B 723) and Grey Rose (104B 728).
